Description
Legendary Australian blues rock band. Only 2 full albums were ever released on VINYL, Down The Road (1986) and Southern Lightning (1987). Plus several singles. Group members: Nik Guselev (bass), Louie Black (drums), Manny Seddon (guitar), Dave Hogan (vocals, harp), however continued to play & record under various guises through the years.
The story behind this never before released on CD gem is that a long term fan of the band decided he wanted to put his money behind having the vinyl/tapes remastered by the esteemed maestro GIL MATTHEWS of AZTEC RECORDS fame – who has done his usual STELLAR job of mastering.
MUDDY WATERS died on 30th April 1983. The following weekend SOUTHERN LIGHTNING at one of it’s Melbourne pub gigs improvised a heart-felt tribute to the KIng of Chicago RnB. And the result was ‘MUDDY WATERS BLUES’….Australia blues rock at it’s hard-core best. After more than 30 years, the band’s 2 albums ‘DOWN THE ROAD’ and ‘SOUTHERN LIGHTNING have finallly been remastered from the original vinyl – together with bonus live tracks from a 2014 Reunion and a laidback 2019 revisiting of MUDDY WATERS BLUES by Dave Hogan & Manny Gauci cut at Manny’s home studio. The 2CD package is 110 minutes of classic 1980’s Melbourne blues rock!
