Description

On December 4th 1970, Neil Young played two legendary solo acoustic shows at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the first time Young ever performed at the New York venue..“[This was] the first time I walked onstage at Carnegie Hall,” Young writes on the Neil Young Archives, “blowing my own 25-year-old mind.”

The 23 songs in this set (2 LP & 2 CD) have been mixed from the original ¼ inch tapes by Young and Niko Bolas. This is the early show which has never been bootlegged or circulated, and is the first release in Neil’s new “Official Bootleg Series”.  Five more releases from the series will arrive next year.

Young performed two shows at Carnegie Hall, one on the 4th and another at midnight the next morning. Bootleggers were unable to capture this first show, which according to Young was “by far, a much superior show”.  “This one — Carnegie Hall, December 4th, 1970, is very special to me,” Young writes. “Change happens fast. As I have gone through these early bootlegs, Carnegie Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion [2/1/70], Royce Hall [1/30/71] and others, they show a change, something you can hear — an evolution.
