Since the 1980s Paul and Vince have consistently made artful music at the forefront of Australian Jazz. There together here as a duo with nothing to prove – just honouring some beautiful melodies and timeless songs.
Paul on Vince: ‘A true romantic who lifts a song, allowing it to take flight, and, being a great improvisor, revealing new possibilities with each performance.’ Vince on Paul: ‘ Paul makes Art consistently – whenever he touches the piano. His creative playing pours over you like gentle rain.’ We’ll hear their piano and vocal (and sometimes trumpet) duets followed by great instrumental versions of the same songs, by The Julien Wilson Quartet and by Jukka Perkko and Iiro Rantala. We’ll also hear Iiro play Lennon from our album of the week and Matt McMahon from his solo album and from his album of Irish-tinged solo free piano improvisations.
