V/A ‘Woodstock: Back To The Garden – 50th Anniversary Collection’ – 3CD

Available on backorder

To coincide with the 50th anniversary of the epic, infamous festival, Rhino Music/Warner are releasing Woodstock: Back To The Garden, a compilation celebrating the incredible range of music heard by some half a million punters at Woodstock ’69. (This 3CD, 42-track collection is a more feasible option for those who can’t commit to parting with US$800 for the full 38-disc archival box set!)

Producer Andy Zax says he, sound producer Brian Kehew and mastering engineer Dave Schultz avoided interfering with the tapes as much as possible in order to preserve their authenticity. “If there’s a single overriding lesson that Brian Kehew and I have learned since we began working with the Woodstock tapes in 2005, it’s this… you realize that these tapes are the sonic equivalent of heirloom tomatoes — slightly imperfect, but delicious.”

The pack includes a 24-page booklet with photos and memorabilia, essays, and an introduction from the producers. A fantastic trip down memory lane and a wonderful commemoration of a festival that defined the 60s and the Summer of Love.
