Description

Nearly 40 years have passed since a group of exceptionally talented studio musicians decided to start their own band and make original music. That band is Toto, and the group’s 1978 debut marked the beginning of a legendary career that will continue in 2015 with a new tour and the release of the new studio album, Toto XIV.

Toto members have appeared on thousands of recordings earning hundreds Grammy nominations, but the magic they create as a collective have launched some of rock and pop music’s most memorable classics. With Toto XIV, founders Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals), David Paich (keyboards, vocals), and Steve Porcaro (keyboards, vocals) reunite for another stunning display of magic and melody. Original bassist David Hungate even makes a return for the recording of the new record. Joining the founding four are vocalist Joseph Williams who made his debut on 1986’s Fahrenheit album and new drummer Keith Carlock. Longtime contributor, Lenny Castro once again adds his percussion skills to the mix. Other notable special guests include Michael McDonald, Tal Wilkenfeld, Lee Sklar and Tom Scott.

Toto XIV ends fittingly with “Great Expectations”, a song which sums up the album perfectly; delivering a soaring and grandiloquent conclusion to a record that serves up 11 spectacular moments of auditory delight. Shining moments sparkle throughout Toto XIV and the songs resonate with passionate performances and the creative wisdom of life experience. The album breathes with beauty and reflection. Four decades after it all began, Toto is still creating optimistic and inspired music, and the band makes an emphatic and personal statement with Toto XIV.
