Superstar roots music keyboardist Reese Wynans has, after more than 50 years in the music business, finally released his debut album as a bandleader – and it’s everything you’d expect it to be and more. Titled Sweet Release, the record also marks guitarist Joe Bonamassa’s debut as a producer, and he and Wynans make just as much magic here as they do onstage with Joe’s band, which Reese joined in 2015.

The ‘friends’ involved (apart from Bonamassa) include Vince Gill, Sam Moore (Sam & Dave), Jack Pearson (Allman Brothers), Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Keb’ Mo’, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie), along with Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon of Double Trouble, and many more! There’s enough subsequent musical diversity and spark to bring fresh life to some familiar material, of which some of the lesser known songs often impress most.

Every track is a sublime education of the level of cool that Reese and his fellow musicians just exhume in their everyday lives. A beautiful collection of some of the fines blues tracks recorded, executed perfectly by some of the modern day greats. Production is so on point that you can just lose yourself in the majesty of the heart and soul poured out across twelve killer tracks. Sweet indeed!
