PINK FLOYD ‘Delicate Sound of Thunder’ Ltd. Dlx Ed (2CD, Bray, DVD)

Available on backorder

The recently-remixed 1988 concert album and film, Delicate Sound of Thunder  documents the David Gilmour-led lineup of Pink Floyd performing in support of A Momentary Lapse of Reason at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.

The restoration team sourced their work from over 100 cans of original 35mm film negatives, which were transferred to 4K and newly re-edited by Barry Trickett under the direction of longtime Pink Floyd creative partner Aubrey Powell. Though this edit was previously available on The Later Years box set, this marks its standalone debut.

The sound has also been restored and completely remixed from the original multitracks by David Gilmour, Andy Jackson, and Damon Iddins. The film has been enhanced with an immersive 5.1 surround sound mix to complement the hi-res stereo soundtrack. Meanwhile, the new edition of the album contains eight tracks not available on the current standalone CD version (though these eight tracks premiered last year as part of the Later Years box set).

For those who don’t want to enjoy the show piecemeal and want something extra, Pink Floyd this expanded box set edition featuring the concert on two CDs, plus a Blu-ray and DVD each with five bonus tracks not on the standard editions which made their debut on The Later Years. The package evokes that of The Endless River, with a lift-off lid box, a 40-page booklet, a double-sided poster, and five postcards of the band.
