Two of Australia’s most respected musicians, the high priestess of Australian pop Kate Ceberano and ARIA- and Helpmann Award-winning jazz icon Paul Grabowsky, have teamed up to create Tryst, a stunning collection of love songs from the past 50 years.

These renditions were selected because of their ability to connect on a deep emotional level and more importantly, because they have influenced both artists at some point in their lives. The repertoire is as diverse as love itself, diving into 60s pop with Cilla Black one moment, then 80s Aussie rock with the Divinyls the next, then flirtation with jazz and chanson later.

Ceberano’s vocals are raw and heartfelt and Grabowsky provides inspired spontaneous arrangements so rich in colour you could swear there is a band working behind him. Their musical connection is such that they respond instantaneously to what the other offers, enjoying the interaction that only the bond of so many years brings. Their honesty and connection is palpable. Tryst is a fertile collaboration that combines commercial appeal and jazz mastery with most enjoyable results.
